December 18, 2024 – We’re Home! Merry Christmas and a Quick Update With More to Come!

Posted on December 18, 2024

Hello All,

I apologize for not getting any sort of updates posted sooner, but it has been a very busy fall. We just got home from the last of our hunting adventures earlier this week, and it has been a very fun and successful fall, but we are happy to be home and settling in for the winter. In the next few days I will start getting some more detailed posts up talking about the incredible moose season we had at camp this year, and will follow that with an update of what we have been up to as well. No big western hunt this year but we still put some miles on the truck travelling to visit friends and hunt whitetail. We had a great and very successful trip and filled the freezer back up after tragically losing it and it’s contents this summer.

We have had very strange weather up here to start the winter off. We came home to over a foot of snow to move and for the first 4 days we were home (during a surprisingly quick week back home before our last trip of the season last weekend) we had fresh snow to move every day. We have had some very cold snaps getting down to -25 F, but they have only lasted a few days before warming right back up to that 20 degree range or so. I personally haven’t been out to check any ice conditions but from what I’ve heard it varies a lot lake to lake. With the large amount of snow and not a lot of cold I don’t think we have a great start to the ice season as the little ice we have is well insulated from the cold with all that snow on top. I think the bigger trout lakes might be okay once they freeze more solid as they remained open for a lot of the late fall and hopefully don’t have as much snow on top of the ice insulating it. As we approach the new year we will start poking a few test holes here and there to take a look and hopefully get out on the hardwater.

Lastly, I just wanted to take a quick second to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of our valued clients, new and old! We really do appreciate all of you guys and gals and your continued business. Thanks to everyone who chose to vacation with us this year, and to all of those who have our schedule for 2025 practically sold out already. I have also taken a bit of time this morning to update our Rates page and the Vacancies post as well. So if you are looking to get a spot reserved for next season give it a look and of course please don’t hesitate to call/text/email any questions.
